Rusty Hardin & Associates Attorney in The Washington Post on Facial Recognition Lawsuit Against Sunglass Hut, Macy’s

The Washington Post features a lawsuit filed by Rusty Hardin & Associates on behalf of a Texas grandfather wrongfully arrested based on faulty facial recognition software.

Even though the man lived in a different state when men robbed a Sunglass Hut store in Houston, he was arrested in connection with the crime. While in jail, he was sexually assaulted by three men.

“It scares me to think we’re heading in a direction where one of my kids can be incarcerated for doing nothing wrong, based on this technology,” said attorney Daniel Dutko, who represents the plaintiff in the case.

The Washington Post story details the lawsuit and the continuing questions about the accuracy of facial recognition software.
