“They’re not looking to be rich. They’re not looking to get a home run. They’re literally looking to get paid for the damage that they have suffered as a result of this project,” said Daniel Charest, one of the attorneys who filed the lawsuit.

“At issue in the lawsuit is not whether the state should have made this decision but, instead, whether the state owes ‘just compensation’ to the property owners who have now twice watched their land flood just as high as the I-10 barrier, said Daniel Charest of Burns Charest LLP, which is representing the property owners.
