As insurance claims related to the recent winter storms mount, Lynn Pinker Hurst & Schwegmann partner Josh Sandler talks about what to be prepared for if there is potential litigation and how attorneys should best serve their clients.
“Regardless of whether the damage was caused by Mother Nature or human nature, the significance of winter storm Uri should not be overlooked,” he says.
“It seems likely that most negligence claims will be handled by the respective insurance carriers. Attorneys handling these claims will want to ensure they employ a detailed review and summary of key documents and notes so they can best understand the factual circumstances underpinning each claim. Attorneys should also check in with their corporate clients to see if there have been any issues stemming from the storm: delayed deliveries; loss of information due to outages; physical damage to property. The best way to serve clients is to listen to them.”
