Jeff Ryan of Chamblee Ryan is featured in a KXAS-NBC 5 report on a North Texas woman who woke up from a medical procedure to find her front tooth missing. Mr. Ryan, who is not involved in the matter but regularly represents healthcare providers in such cases, says it’s not clear exactly how often dental trauma happens during medical procedures. “From a pure medical standpoint, it’s a recognized risk to general anesthesia. You may have patients, if they have caps or crowns, that may make it more susceptible to injury during the process of anesthesia.” As in this case, he recommends that a consumer should work directly with the hospital and physicians to cover the costs of any dental repairs.
