Partner Stephen Higdon at the boutique trial law firm Lyons & Simmons is interviewed in NBC 5 broadcast and its digital story “Could Your Phone Help Save You From a Wrong-Way Driver?” discussing new technology inspired by his work on behalf of the widow of a head-on accident victim. Clips of the broadcast appeared on NBC’s Nightly News.
Michael James “MJ” Jackson was killed by a drunk driver traveling the wrong way on the President George Bush Turnpike. Mr. Higdon successfully sued the bar that overserved the drunk driver and is now lending support to Mr. Jackson’s family and friends in their attempt to create and implement technology that will revolutionize the way people are alerted to wrong-way drivers.
“Where the gap is, is letting the folks who are driving the right way know that there is a big danger up ahead,” Mr. Higdon told NBC5. “If anything good is going to come out of the tragedy, it is that it inspired the right group of people to pursue something to give everyone a fighting chance.”
