HOUSTON – AZA’s modern and formidable new office was selected as a finalist for the 2017 Landmark Awards by the Houston Business Journal in the Rehabilitation/Renovation category. The 34,000-square-foot office on the 25th floor of the LyondellBasell Tower at 1221 McKinney St. is visually imposing. AZA Law Firm wanted to keep the opposing counsel on its toes and designed its office to have surprises at every turn. The commercial litigation firm’s new space is described as being professional, client-centered and edgy – all at the same time, the business journal said of the offices designed by architect Abel Design Group.
The office’s main corridor is lined with dark wall paneling and flooring, but is edgelit while the reception area is stark white with a white marble desk. The dark features are highlighted by the natural lighting of the office’s many windows, the business journal wrote. The $5 million renovation’s general contractor was Trademark Construction; the engineer was Matrix Structural Engineers.
