DALLAS – The law firm of Shackelford, Melton & McKinley, LLP, is pleased to announce the addition of attorney Michael C. Barnett as an associate in the firm’s Dallas office.

Mr. Barnett previously served as an intern for the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Alabama and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama.

"Michael is an exceptional young attorney and we are excited to have him joining our firm,” says John Shackelford, a founding partner of Shackelford, Melton & McKinley.

At Shackelford, Melton & McKinley, Mr. Barnett focuses his practice on transactional work in a wide range of corporate and commercial law, including banking, regulatory compliance, financing, and the lease and purchase of real estate.

Mr. Barnett earned his law degree, cum laude, from Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law, where he served as associate editor of the Cumberland Law Review. He also was a member of the Trial Advocacy Board and the Christian Legal Society, and was named a Judge Abraham Caruthers Fellow. He earned his Master of Business Administration degree from the Southern Methodist University Cox School of Business and his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas.
