DALLAS –Noted Dallas criminal defense lawyer Barry Sorrels again has earned a spot on the 2011 Texas Super Lawyers list as one of the top 100 attorneys in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Mr. Sorrels, a founding member of Dallas’ Sorrels, Udashen & Anton, has been selected to the prestigious list annually since 2003.
“To be recognized by my peers for this honor several years in a row is extremely flattering,” says Mr. Sorrels. “I am particularly happy to be named among the top attorneys in Dallas-Fort Worth, where you’ll find some of the best lawyers in the country.”
Mr. Sorrels handles white-collar and criminal defense matters for a variety of clients, including high profile cases involving prominent business executives and nationally known sports personalities. He has won acquittals for his clients on charges ranging from complex federal fraud to first-degree murder. In the span of his 30-year career, Mr. Sorrels has tried more than 300 trials in state and federal jurisdictions throughout the U.S. He currently serves as president of the Dallas Bar Association.
To compile the annual Texas Super Lawyers list, researchers solicit nominations from the more than 70,000 attorneys across Texas to gauge opinions on the best in the legal profession. A blue-ribbon panel of lawyers assists Texas Super Lawyers researchers with the final selections, which include less than 5 percent of all Texas attorneys. The 2011 Texas Super Lawyers list appears in the October edition of Texas Monthly magazine and Texas Super Lawyers magazine published by Thomson Reuters Legal Division.
Including Mr. Sorrels, every name partner at Sorrels, Udashen & Anton earned a place on this year’s Texas Super Lawyers listing based on their white-collar, criminal defense and appellate work. The firm’s other honorees include Bruce E. Anton, Gary A. Udashen and Robert N. Udashen.
The 2011 Texas Super Lawyers listing is the most recent in a series of honors for Mr. Sorrels, including his repeat selection to The Best Lawyers in America, and D Magazine’s list of “The Best Lawyers in Dallas” as well as Lawdragon’s “500 Leading Lawyers in America.”
A graduate of Columbia University and Southern Methodist University’s Dedman School of Law, Mr. Sorrels is Board Certified in Criminal Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He has earned a national reputation as a legal analyst on CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News, and is a frequent lecturer on topics such as cross-examination, closing argument, the intangibles of trial lawyers, and media relations in high profile cases.
Sorrels, Udashen & Anton is a nationally prominent firm based in Dallas that concentrates on the trial and appeal of criminal cases. To learn more, visit the firm’s web site at www.sualaw.com.
