DALLAS - Accomplished appellate lawyer, mediator, arbitrator and former Texas Supreme Court Justice Deborah Hankinson of the Dallas law firm Hankinson Levinger LLP has earned selection to Texas Lawyer's "Winning Women" list.
To be considered for the "Winning Women" list, attorneys must have a track record of success in significant cases, including a major trial or appellate win since Jan. 1, 2009. Texas Lawyer vetted nominations to include lawyers who prevailed in high-stakes cases, won large monetary awards, and/or were victorious in cases that made law or had statewide or national impact.
Earlier this year, Ms. Hankinson helped a client erase a multimillion-dollar verdict in a West Texas oil and gas case. She also is credited with helping establish important precedents in asbestos litigation and state constitutional law based on her work last year for the survivors of a Texas factory worker who contracted the lung disease mesothelioma.
Ms. Hankinson's numerous court victories in energy litigation and other areas of law complement her legal track record and her groundbreaking work in arbitration and mediation.
"I am honored to be included alongside some of Texas' top attorneys in the 'Winning Women' list," says Ms. Hankinson, who also served as a Justice for the Fifth District Court of Appeals in Dallas.
Ms. Hankinson is Board Certified in Civil Appellate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. She is a member of the American Law Institute, and sits on the Board of Directors for the American Arbitration Association. Since 2003, Ms. Hankinson has served on the Board of Directors for the Texas Access to Justice Foundation, which provides funding statewide for organizations delivering free civil legal assistance to low-income Texans. She has earned multiple selections as one of Texas' Top 100 attorneys in the annual Texas Super Lawyers listing.
