US trial law firm Arnold & Itkin has announced a US$1.72m (A$1.895m) verdict in favour of worker injured from crane accident at BP Texas City Plant.
According to Arnold & Itkin, in a case which has taken four years to get to this point, a jury found Maxim Crane Works completely liable for injuries suffered by Ernesto Tamez, who was supervising a job at the BP plant on 18 January 2006, when he was struck by an oil burner being lifted by a Maximum Crane Works crane operator.

The crane operator is said to have lifted the oil burner without waiting on a signal from anyone whether the area was clear, and also moved the crane boom in such a way it was out of alignment with the load, contributing to the accident.
Arnold & Itkin says Mr. Tamez suffered crushing injuries to his ribs, back, neck and shoulder, and endured extensive surgeries to repair the damage.
